Year 3
Chelsey Mitchell, MD
- New York - Presbyterian/Columbia University - Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital
Dr. Mitchell completed medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA and pediatric residency at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital/Columbia University New York, New York. After residency she worked in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Columbia, as a hospitalist for 2 years after which she worked for another 2 years as an acute care pediatrician in our Emergency Room prior to starting fellowship.
Dr. Mitchell's primary academic interest is in Quality Improvement and Operations. She most recently completed a leadership course in Quality Improvement at Cinncinati Children's Anderson Center for Health Care Excellence during which her focus was on improvement of interpreter services and documentation within the pediatric emergency room at our institution.
Andzelika Dechnik, MD
- Boston Children’s Hospital
Dr. Andzelika Dechnik completed medical school at Weill Cornell Medicine, followed by pediatric residency at the Boston Combined Residency Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center. Dr. Dechnik’s primary academic interest is medical education.
In medical school, Dr. Dechnik completed research about delirium in the PICU. During residency, she worked on medical education projects, including research on intubation opportunities for learners in pediatric emergency departments. Dr. Dechnik hopes to continue focusing her research on medical education, particularly in the field of pediatric emergency medicine.

Trishell Simon, MD
- Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami
Dr. Trishell Simon completed medical school at The University of the West Indies St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad where she later practiced for two years in the department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Dr. Simon then did a one-year practicum in general pediatrics at Leyte Provincial Hospital in The Philippines. In 2019 she began her pediatric residency in Miami, Florida at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, spending her fourth year as Chief Resident.
Dr. Simon has a strong interest in Medical Education as well as in Disaster and Crisis Preparedness and Mass Casualty Incident Triage. Dr. Simon envisions her professional career operating at the nexus of this specialty care and its positive impact on our most marginalized communities.
Year 2
Jessica Ashley, MD, MPH
- Yale New Haven Hospita
Dr. Jessica Ashley completed medical school at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She then completed a residency in pediatrics and chief residency at Yale New Haven Hospital. Her primary interests are public health advocacy and community engagement with marginalized populations. She sees a future career embedded in the diverse milieu of pediatric emergency medicine bridging the gap between healthcare institutions and the communities we serve.
Erin Hannon, MD
- New York - Presbyterian/Columbia University - Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital
Dr. Erin Hannon completed medical school at University of Connecticut followed by pediatric residency at NYP-Columbia Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Hannon’s scholarly interests include healthcare disparities research and clinical operations. She is particularly passionate about investigating and mitigating inequities in healthcare outcomes related to patients' preferred language. As a fellow, she received a Health Justice Research Grant from the NYP Dalio Center for Health Justice supporting her research investigating the safety and efficacy of using machine translation for ED discharge instructions. She additionally participates in hospital-wide committees including the ED-Inpatient Working Group and the ED Interdisciplinary Rounds Working Group. Ultimately, Dr. Hannon envisions a career incorporating implementation science to inform more equitable policies and promote more equitable care outcomes.
Year 1
Katheryn Cireseanu, MD
- Maimonides Medical Center
Dr. Katheryn Cireseanu earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada and completed her residency in pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She has a strong interest in medical education and point-of-care-ultrasound (POCUS), and plans to pursue the ultrasound track to further develop her expertise. Dr. Cireseanu envisions her career integrating these passions to enhance trainee education and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she values caring for a diverse patient population and connecting with families in their preferred language.
Hannah Patterson, DO
- Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital
Dr. Hannah Patterson completed medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Auburn Campus. She then pursued a pediatrics and global child health residency at Baylor College of Medicine / Texas Children’s Hospital. During training, she spent a fourth clinical immersion year in Lilongwe, Malawi focusing on providing high quality ethical care for children and adolescents living with HIV among other conditions including tuberculosis, malaria, and malnutrition in the district hospital and Baylor Center of Excellence. Dr. Patterson’s scholarly interests include simulation and disaster preparedness. As a fellow, she envisions building on her experience as a simulation instructor to promote efforts of sustainability within global health and facilitate simulations that result in pediatric readiness.
