Our EMIG team provides a range of helpful links and resources about the field of emergency medicine.

Organizations

  • Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association (EMRA): Great resource with tons of info on applying to residency, updates on the specialty, and learning opportunities. Membership for medical students is $70/year and includes access to EMRAP and an introductory kit with guides, cards, and books.
  • American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP): Large organization with focus on advocacy (patients, physicians, legislative). They put on a yearly conference, have their own journal, and offer grants for EM research. Can be joined for $70/year or together with EMRA for $115/year as a medical student.
  • Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM): Organization focused primarily on research within EM. Offer grants, education, and professional development. Multiple interest groups and task forces.
  • American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM): Similar to ACEP, professional organization with focus on advocacy. However, notably against the influence of corporate EM practice. AAEM RSA (Resident and Student Association) membership is specific to trainees and membership offers blog access, magazine subscription, and survival guides for $40/year.
  • American Medical Student Association (AMSA): Organization for medical student advocacy, education resources, and mentorship. Not specific to any one specialty, but with helpful tips on the match and many great student led campaigns and initiatives. Membership is $75 for four years.

  • AliEM (Academic Life in Emergency Medicine): Amazing teaching resource with multiple one-page topic presentations and podcasts
  • WikEM: Wiki-style resources for quick info about a number of diagnoses/chief complaints pertaining to EM
  • CoreEM: Great resource for procedure videos by topic
  • Stop the Bleed: Resources on management of acute life-threatening bleeds                                                                          
  • FemInEM (Females Working in Emergency Medicine): Resources for women in EM, including a curriculum on gender bias and strategies for women in the field
  • Life in the Fast Lane: Site dedicated to EM topics most helpful for great ECG teaching and cases, with weekly cases for practice
  • emDocs: Blog with regular case report teaching, references to helpful papers, and journal summaries
